Gastroenterologist
Dr. Alan Gingold is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology and is currently Chief of Gastroenterology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset.
His areas of expertise include capsule endoscopy, reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and hemorrhoidal banding.
Dr. Gingold serves as Chairman of the Nutrition Committee at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset, where he previously served as a member of the Colon and Rectal Cancer Institute at Steeplechase Cancer Center and was a member of the Physician Advisory Committee.
Following his studies at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Westbury, NY, Dr. Gingold completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology, as well as his residency in internal medicine, at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Gingold has been the recipient of numerous awards including Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor distinction in 2015. He also has received a Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award, Patients’ Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Recognition, Bridges to Excellence IBD Care Recognition, and Top 10 Doctor/New Jersey Gastroenterologist.
He has contributed articles to several publications, including: Digestive Diseases and Sciences (October 2007), Life Sciences (October 2003), and Teratology (December 1999).
Dr. Gingold attributes his success to the extra time he spends with his patients. “This gives me a better understanding of their problems so we can work together as a team to resolve the issues that they have.”
